Papers of lawyer, judge, Massachusetts Senator, and President of the Massachusetts Board of Trade Loyed E. Chamberlain of Brockton, Mass, 1876-1908, pertaining mostly to his work with the New York, Brockton, and Boston Canal and Transportation Company (N.Y.B & B.C . & T. Co.). Papers contain a scrapbook of clippings related to the proposal for a canal that would connect Massachusetts to New York, via Brockton, 1905-9; a notebook of the N.Y.B & B.C & T. Co., including their charter and meeting minutes, 1906-7; loose papers, including proposals to the Board of Railroad Commissioners and the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives; the N.Y.B & B.C & T. Co. by-laws, and other clippings, 1907; and two diaries kept by Chamberlain in 1876-77.
